HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (AP) – Authorities say three people have been injured in an accident involving a car and the SUV of a Long Island fire chief.

Suffolk County police say the crash occurred 12:36 a.m. Thursday in Hauppauge. It closed portions of Routes 111 and 347 for several hours.

They say a man driving with a passenger was heading south on Route 111 when their car struck the SUV belonging to the Stony Brook Fire Department chief.
